China has offered to hold peace talks with Afghanistan

China has offered to hold peace talks with Afghanistan

Afghanistan has been embroiled in a 20-year civil war between Taliban terrorists and the country's government.

Peace talks have been going on for the past few months between the two sides over ending this war. No progress has been made so far on the ongoing peace talks in Doha, the country's capital, mediated by Qatar.

In this context, China has offered to hold peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban terrorist organization. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi telephoned Hamdullah Mohib, Afghanistan's national security adviser, to state the Chinese government's position.

A statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, "The Chinese side is ready to facilitate talks between Afghanistan and China, including creating conditions for peace talks in China."

Earlier, Wang Yi noted that the US decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan had created uncertainty in the situation in Afghanistan.
